been in a bit of a sewing frenzy this week of vacation. i was totally supposed to do homework much of those hours of creating. oh, well. i did manage to combine both of those in this dress. i was irresponsibly going to make it anyway, but then i thought that if i tweaked my original vague idea a bit to make it more 20’s (dropped waist, knee length skirt part) it would not only be cuter, but could also be used for school (:
for culture studies we have to make a ‘modern impression’ of basically every different period since the ancient greek. this can consist of a drawing, related pictures of modern clothes, fabric swatches, even a whole self-made piece of clothing, as long as it’s related to that period. if we do make clothing, we also have to show our process. so i took pictures in-between & thought you might be interested to see that too.

i hadn’t made a dress like this before, so i had to draw a new pattern. at school i learned to draw fitted dress patterns in your chosen measurements from scratch. i could already draw my own patterns of course, but i had always worked from out something existing.

then i gathered materials, determined what would look good with the main fabric. in the end i nixed the ribbon.

Photobucket

started sewing with the gussets.

Photobucket

after i had put together the top part i checked on my dressform if the fit was right.

continued sewing. here the lining.

serged.

gathered the skirt part after i had sewn the layers together. then i just went on sewing without pictures.

last fit check.

& finished it all off. it only doesn’t have a zipper yet, i forgot to buy that. hope you enjoyed the little insight in my process!
i really love how it turned out <(^-^)> i made it for my shop, but i kind of really want to keep it.

some detail shots:

i also made a pair of bloomers since my last post. i didn’t really have anything specific for it in mind. i’ll probably just keep it. it would look lovely with my gibbous dress. it would also add a bit of variety to my almost strictly black/pink/purple/red/white wardrobe. jesus christ, i’m sick of all that neon pink. which fills about three quarters of my closet.
anyway.

just to show the detail on the heart:

i sort of machine embroidered a spiderweb on it. it was a hell of a job.

thanks for looking!

worn yesterday to a summer darkness volunteer meeting & the foreshadowing & lacuna coil concert.

i felt like an anime character. & i kinda liked it.

this outfit was sooooooo comfortable. babydoll+bloomers is one of my new all-time favourite combinations! ideally i would have worn these with my patent black stilettos, but under the circumstances… yeah.

i hope you enjoyed this example of the crazy things i walk around in :]

& this is totally unrelated, but look what i whipped up yesterday!

i love how they turned out. they were so easy to make. i printed the text parts on regular printer paper, gently tore them out & sewed them to scrapbook paper. i still have so many scrapbook paper over from those five minutes i was interested in scrapbooking & now it can finally have a use!

i haven’t made bloomers for far too long.
i finished these yesterday :] they’re insanely comfortable.

i love this skirt sooooooooo much! you can’t really see it in the pictures, but it’s REALLY wide. & so fun to twirl around in! the bottom tier is like 6 metres. widest skirt i’ve ever made :p i made it from the same amazing silk that i used for the skirt that i posted last week. i cut the lace from a poizen industries (what was i even thinking buying it?) dress that i wore once over a year ago. it’ll get a lot more use now :p

wow, that lighting really doesn’t do anything good for my thighs D:

anyway. these are a lot older (maybe you’ve seen them in my portfolio), but i never took good pictures of them. not that these pictures are so spectaculair. i really need a new camera…

these are probably my favourite bloomers that i’ve ever made. pink+white+stripes+raw edges+sequins+lace+a heart & a bow? yeah, i put as much awesomeness in it as i could muster :p now i just need some tops to go with it!

& now the bag.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

i made it today. i’m so very proud of it ^-^

it’s only my second proper bag that i’ve ever made :] i’ve wanted to make that bag for WEEKS now, but i was pretty intimidated. it looked so difficult! it wasn’t though. just A LOT of work. especially because i insisted on putting in so many compartments. i can’t stand bags who just have one.

this one has three extra ones on the inside, one zippered, one for my cellphone & one for my ipod. & all three zippers one the front have one behind them! very handy for things like pens & business cards (which i still need to get…) i also put a D-ring on the inside for my keys to hook on to & blinged the main zipper out with some old jewellery.

i based the pattern off of an old h&m bag. while that bag was VERY flawed (as usual), i really liked the slouchyness of it. i already know i’ll get sooo much use out of this bag. it has everything i love in a bag; long strap, lots of compartments, pink, patterned lining, lots of zippers, bling & it’s a decent size too :]
i’m sorry old nightmare before christmas bag, but your time is over.

oh yes, & remember when i said “it’ll probably be within the next week?” about making & listing new stuff? there’s been a change in plan. i need a few new things for myself first & the few days that i can work next week, will be on my swap. then i’ll go to belgium & probably won’t make anything new to sell in the next two weeks.
but it’s not like you’re buying my stuff anyway :p

i’ve been so productive lately; it’s amazing.
i actually made these before the hoodie that i posted yesterday, but didn’t take any pictures until this morning.

i want to keep them! especially the pinafore! it has polka dots & lace & SEQUINS & hearts & bows & lots of buttons & an amazing flattering silhouette… i think i’ll just make another one for myself :p in pink.
the pinafore reminds me of minnie mouse for some reason, so i decided to call it minnie :] & because the bloomers go so well with it, they’ll be mickey. naming clothes is fun!

i’m really starting to love bloomers of this length. they look so cute peeking out under short dresses. & they’re so comfortable! i really should make more bloomers for myself. i only have like, three pairs. & two to sleep in.

but now i have to go list these two in my stores & promote those stores like my life depends on it.
