i went to the adicts last night. so of course i had to dress up. in a very creative way.
it’s been so long since i went out dressed so extravagantly. i had almost forgotten how much i loved it.

hat: claire’s, customized
dress: two shirts pinned & tied together
jacket: episode (vintage modified)
tights: claire’s & hema
shoes: trusty doc martens (not pictured)
necklaces: vintage, bella lili
wristbands: episode, various ridiculous alternative shops
rings: gifts

i love this hat. i bought it at claire’s last year when fashion was still in the throes of alice in wonderland. because these things can always be improved, i sewed on some cards & glued different ribbon on it. my choice of cards was entirely influenced by the adicts & motörhead.

it’s a shame i didn’t have time to take better, more complete pictures. i really really loved this outfit. & i wasn’t the only one. so many awesome people came up to talk to me. one woman liked my look so much that she practically forced me on stage when the adicts called for ladies to come up & dance, deaf to my protests that i sucked at it. so i danced & sang on stage with the adicts. & some other pretty girls. i had a pretty amazing time.
the moral of this story? dress the fuck up. always. you’ll have way more fun.

lately i’ve gotten sort of obsessed with skins. i especially love cassie & her style. some of the best pictures i could find:

i love having money. i’ve been lusting after fringe‘s stuff for so long. dennice, the owner, makes such lovely, unique, whimsical wearable art. i bought the capulet collar & urban mermaid necklace set last week. it was love at first sight.

upon ordering, dennice sent me the loveliest thank you/confirmation e-mail. she is such a delight to deal with. she said she would ship them the next day & then did. i think i looked in the mailbox every day the second half of the week it took to arrive. in the end it was my mom who brought it in. right in the middle of me working on a certain dress, frustrated out of my mind. then for a little while it was like christmas, when i still believed in that commercial hypocritical fairytale.

look at that packaging! amazing. those bags were handmade too, if you can believe that.

see what i mean about her being a delight?

& then came the unwrapping:

AMAZING. both the craftsmanship & designs. i love them, so much. more so because you can wear these with so many different clothes. & the necklace set is super extra versatile.

just in case you missed it in all my fanciful babbling: ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED SHOP. if you see something of hers you like, don’t even hesitate, just buy. you’ll be glad you did. here are some more examples of her exceptional work:

i already want more…

JESUS CHRIST, THIS DRESS. TORMENTING.
i worked on it for three days straight. & i thought it would be so easy. i had to make it for school. we have so many classes to work on this, i thought, i’ll never need that much, half of the semester i’ll just be sitting around with nothing to do. WRONG. with the trial version i had to make & all the inappropriate fabrics (especially this) i went through, i had NOTHING at the end of that string of classes. luckily i still had this little vacation. & i’m rather pleased with being able to work on it without some teacher breathing down my neck (even though i like my teachers).

Photobucket

i suppose it turned out well. only the belt is a little crooked & the lining part isn’t as flawless as i would have liked. but with the fabrics! they were so slinky & restless & impossible to work with. but i thought, pretty. & if my teachers don’t like my new fabric this time they can just go -something i shouldn’t say on the internet.

the assignment was to design an original ‘little black dress’ & then execute that design, just to clarify. i have never been a fan of those legendary lbgoddamnds. in fact, i get downright violent when people hail it as the best thing ever. something restricting every female NEEDS to have in their closet. but i won’t get into that. now.
however, with everything this assignment put me through, it was a good challenge (:

thanks for looking!

i’ve been a little obsessed with dystopic books & movies lately. what is it that makes a post-apocalyptic wasteland seem so seductive? the deterioration? zombies? tyranny? eternal darkness? or just the clothes you imagine wearing at such a time?

whatever the case, here are some great examples of such clothes & accessories. you don’t have to wait for the apocalypse to enjoy these (:

extended version of this in a treasury on etsy.
