i love that fabric so much! luckily i have some left for myself :]

i really like how this dress turned out. it looks very mature, but still very girly & adorable. again, i didn’t want to totally over-embellish it because of the pattern; i only added lots of black accents.

it looks soooooo much better on a real person than on my shapeless dressform. i tried it on to make sure :p it’s very comfortable. & also very stretchy; it could comfortably stretch all the way to xl. so don’t give me that old “i would definitely buy this, if only it were in my size!” when i list it.

i’m not sure about this one. but that’s probably just because of the colours. this colour scheme was completely alien to me :p but i wanted to make something halloweeny & came across this adorable bat fabric. which was mostly orange (the one colour i can’t love!). because some of the bats were yellow, i used yellow polka dot fabric for the other panels. it’s such an amazing yellow. it’s very light & pastel-ish, but somehow still so bright it could burn your eyeballs right out of their sockets. my favourite kind of yellow!

after i sewed all the panels together, it took a while to decide what to do with the rest of it. such difficult colours! i started with the lace at the top, tried & discarded a purple bow, then decided on a striped one. then i thought it would be cool to add a matching striped ruffle along the bottom, but then i came across that checkered fabric & thought that it would look much better. that ruffle was SO tedious to do, but it looks awesome :] & in the halloween mood, i hand-stitched a big spider, cut out from mesh fabric, to the front. then i topped it off with some hand-stitched polka dot patches for that extra dose of character.

i would LOVE to hear your opinion on this one. opinions on the first dress are welcome too, of course, but i would especially LOVE them on the second. love it? hate it? wearable?

thanks for looking anyway :] & i will list these on etsy, with my next batch, somewhere within the next two weeks! so save up! oh! that reminds me. [insider scoop]i will offer free shipping (including custom orders!) all through september![/insider scoop] because it’s my birthmonth. it would be lovely to sell some things before my birthday (the 24th!). so if you were planning on buying something from me, september’s the time.

& just one last thing: i recenly made a facebook page (link in my sidebar!) & if you have a facebook account, please fan me :]

this week: handmade journals/books, all from etsy. i’m in a bookish mood & when it comes to books, there’s nothing i love more than handmade ones.

i hope you liked them :] i know i do!

& now a HIGHLY unusual honourable mention. you see, my little brother recently made a burnout paradise fan video & uploaded it to youtube. he worked really hard on it (it was adorable) & it’s actually pretty impressive for a fan video.

even though i’m not much of a game/racing/car person (but maybe you are! …okay, i’m just grasping at straws here) & the music he used makes my ears bleed & i just don’t get the point of game fan videos, as his big (& thoroughly amazing :p) sister with a blog with regular readers, i feel obligated to mention it. SO. without further ado:

if you have a youtube account & too much time on your hands, feel free to rate and/or comment here.

oh, & i apologize for that awful “photobucket bandwidth limit exceeded” sign instead of pictures in my older posts. i tried to fix it by making a new account & replacing some pictures, but it just won’t budge. i can’t even upgrade to a plus account, because i have no credit card D: it should be fine again on the 28th though.

everyone’s reactions to my newly listed clothes! (even though i haven’t sold squat yet) being back on craftster (i always get more compliments than i can handle) new fabric (sequinned tulle!) how my voice sounds when i have a cold finding neverland (i just saw it on tv & thought it was amazing) all those crazy time paradoxes in lost writing again! read print (hello, free books; unfortunately in digital) styling my new short hair good pictures of myself (i will probably totally sound like gilderoy lockhart, but i keep amazing myself with how good i can look) feverishly checking the stats on my blog & shop smiling for no reason whatsoever decent strangers rain! (i’ve missed you) wearing doc martens with floral dresses how fast i get better in the unlikely case that i get sick shane, still (i watched an episode of the l word again today, so that love is still fresh in my mind :]) being inspired joe black (i just discovered his music the day before yesterday; it’s genius) unusual music in general the latest episode of love & sequins sudden increase of comments on my blog (three in a week! it’s a record!) being a total word nerd & following dictionary.com on twitter (i also loved that miss darling recommended dictionary.com on her podcast; fellow nerds always make me smile) when sewing/writing, just making things up as i go along instead of planning it all out beforehand

far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. i may not reach them, but i can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, & try to follow where they lead.

instead of waiting until i had made enough things to make it look like i’ve been working very hard since the last time i updated my etsy shop & i looked perfect again (thank god for photoshop), i just went ahead & modelled & listed what i had. otherwise i would just keep procrastinating.

Photobucket

so go ahead & buy things! :] or at least favourite something.

i still managed to make something today :] & yes, this is for sale. but it’ll probably take a while before i list it. like everything else i’ve made to sell lately! heh.

i know, i know, it’s absolutely slathered in pink (again) & i apologize. i just happen to have a lot of pink supplies in stock :p

i love how it turned out. i don’t think i’ve ever made a cowl neck before; it was very easy to do. & i thought i’d have more to say about this, but it’s 2 AM & i really can’t think of anything else. what do YOU think? love it? hate it? stop with the pink already?!
